United We Dream

Overview

On November 12, 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments on Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California, a case about the Trump administration’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

In response, United We Dream created the Home Is Here campaign to highlight the human impact ending DACA would have. The campaign specifically targeted Supreme Court justices and their clerks. In 2020, in a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that the rescission of the DACA program was “arbitrary and capricious," allowing DACA to remain in place and giving temporary relief to DACA recipients and their families.

United We Dream’s Bruna Sollod and José Muñoz accepted the award and gave a keynote presentation at ComNetworkV21.

Quote from the keynote speech

“Our work is not just about politics and policy, but about empowering young, undocumented people.”

— José Muñoz, United We Dream
